Concentrating the sun’s rays in order to harness its great power for industrial purposes dates back to Archimedes’ time.
A number of drivers are increasing the attractiveness of harnessing solar resources for electricity generation, and many approaches are being developed and commercialized.
Advantages include:
- It eliminates the risk of volatile fuel prices as it harnesses a free and reliable energy source.
- Reasonably good matching to daily peak demand.
- Good storage capabilities (using molten salt) which allow operation for many hours after the sun has set.
- Can be integrated into conventional thermal power plants to displace some fossil fuel.
- Solar electricity represents a highly popular form of new energy in studies of public perception and expectation of future contribution to the energy mix.
We are developing Concentrated Solar Power projects in:
- Australia
- Turkey
- Saudi Arabia
- Italy
- Greece.
